Two hospitalized in stabbings at Mary's Kitchen in Orange

One man was hospitalized and another in custody after a stabbing at Mary’s Kitchen in Orange Monday afternoon.

Officers were called out about 1:40 p.m. to the Struck Avenue location of Mary’s Kitchen, which provides meals, clothes and other services to the homeless and working poor, when someone reported a man with a knife, said Lt. Fred Lopez of Orange Police Department.

While they were on their way, the caller updated officers that one person had been stabbed, Lopez said. When they arrived, they found the suspect, a man in his 40s, with a knife.

Lopez said the officers used a taser on the man after he refused to drop the weapon. The suspect was taken to a hospital to remove the taser darts. The stabbing victim — a man with a wound to the abdomen — was also hospitalized. It was unclear what his condition was.
