Sweet Bling Events provide variety, opportunity for small businesses | News

A craft show in Enid has been gaining traction at Oakwood Mall the last several months.

Sweet Bling Events is a craft show that was started by Crystal Brown and Barbara Phillips in Apri. The show plays host to a variety of small businesses. The first event had around 16 vendors, and now 25 vendors are expected at the upcoming August show.

“We got tired of not finding local shows, and we wanted to bring something that would help people shop Enid first,” Brown said.

Sweet Bling Events is based out of the old Buckles space in the mall, and also has expanded into the former Foot Locker store. The show is held two days every month.

The next craft show will be Aug. 19 and 20, followed by the September show on Sept. 9 and 10. October’s will be on the 28 and 29 of the month, and November’s will be held on Nov. 18 and 19. The final one of the year will be Dec. 23, “for last minute shoppers.” Various fundraisers are going to be held each month as well.

At August’s show, Brown said there’s going to be a fundraiser for Monroe Elementary School. They’ll be accepting donations of school supplies. There also will be free cupcakes and door prize drawings.

Vendors for the show come from Enid, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, other towns around the state, and even from Kansas, Brown said.

At a meeting Wednesday afternoon, several of the vendors were present. One was Shannon Muhlestein, who’s a SeneGence & Monat distributor at the show. She sells cosmetics and related items. Another was Carol Wyckoff, an independent designer and representative for Signature HomeStyles.

Others present included Diana Whitehead of “A Twist On Nature,” who does wire wrap trees and designs, and Kayella Merry, of Kayella’s Merry Designs, which includes hair bows and more.
