Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III was restrained by his girlfriend, Grete Sadeiko, after a heated exchange at the track stadium at Florida State University on Monday evening, according to TMZ Sports.

The incident occurred after Griffin accidentally bumped into another runner during an offseason workout.

“The [other guy] got heated and got way too close to [Robert], but Robert didn’t touch the guy not once nor put his hands on him,” Sadeiko told TMZ, adding, “The guy tried to approach him again while Robert was walking away. I went between so the guy wouldn’t do anything stupid, and that was the end of it.”

Griffin’s future in Cleveland is uncertain after he played just five games for the Browns last year due to a shoulder fracture. He threw for 886 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing for 190 yards and another two scores.

The Browns, meanwhile, shuffled through a number of quarterbacks in a dreadful 1-15 season. But Griffin expressed a desire to return to Cleveland in early January, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com:

I’m not an idiot; I know a lot of people writing me off as a player, as a quarterback, saying I couldn’t do it. And to go out and show that I can, I think that proves a lot of people wrong. But ultimately, like I said, at the end of the day, I want to win games.

Right now, I’m here with the Cleveland Browns and I love these guys in this locker room. And I want to help them win here. And if I don’t get that opportunity, then that’s out of my control.

I’ve done everything I can to this point with the cards that I was dealt… Let the chips fall where they may.

A decision on his future may come soon. The 27-year-old Griffin is due $6 million next season and a $750,000 roster bonus in March.
