The International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP), the world’s leading association for sustainability professionals, is looking forward to the New Year and putting their partnership with Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) into action. The two organizations will work to improve the knowledge, skills, and abilities of sustainability professionals everywhere, and cross-market their existing credentials. GBCI administers credentials such as the LEED AP and ISSP offers two levels of credentials for sustainability professionals. The ISSP Sustainability Associate (ISSP-SA) credential is for individuals new to sustainability or working in an allied field, such as purchasing or human resources, while the ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional (ISSP-CSP) credential is geared toward individuals with five or more years of experience working directly in sustainability.
Top collaborations in 2018 will include: Leveraging their respective networks to raise awareness and use of sustainability best practices; and providing access to education and training to improve the skills of sustainability professionals. For example, ISSP recently designed a survey to capture such practitioners’ experiences with navigating the abundance of green business certifications. Their brief survey may be accessed here and results will be available on the ISSP website sometime before mid-year.
