The platform leverages the Acquia Lightning distribution, combined with higher education specific features, theme and site structure. It is now available for free download through https://www.drupal.org/project/openedu.
Out of the box, OpenEDU saves higher education institutions and developers time and effort to create and launch a fully functional website. The framework includes a dynamic higher education theme, and a content structure that seamlessly enables complex relationships and dependencies between a college or university’s programs, classes, and faculty. The initial release of OpenEDU will serve as the foundation for the distribution, with four additional quarterly releases scheduled over the next year. ImageX is currently seeking pilots, partners and collaborators to finalize features for future releases.
