GovX, the online shopping site exclusively for current and former military, first responders and government employees, selected the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation as October’s recipient of the Mission Giveback donation program. Each month, GovX supports a new service-related foundation performing work in the military, first responder, or law enforcement communities with each order placed on GovX.com during the given month.
The NFFF’s mission is to honor and remember the fallen heroes of America’s fire services, and to provide resources to assist their family members in rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of tragedy. The foundation also performs work within the fire service community to reduce firefighter deaths, researching causes of death and promoting on-the-job health and safety.
“Having just attended the San Diego 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb where we got to meet so many amazing people from the fire service, it’s a special honor to be able to support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation as this month’s Mission Giveback recipient,” said Alan Cole, GovX CEO.
Created by Congress in 1992, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit which continues to lead nationwide efforts to honor the men and women working in the country’s fire services.
The NFFF plays an immediate role in the difficult time families experience following a loved one’s death in the line of duty. Families receive emotional support through peer support networks comprised of other firefighter family members, and spouses and children are eligible for scholarship assistance for education and job training.
