Fire damages two mobile homes in Santa Ana; displaces family of 8 and a dog

SANTA ANA – A family of eight and their dog were displaced from their adjacent mobile homes when a fire that began in one spread to the other at The Continental Mobile Home Park in the 8 block of Vienna Drive around 8:30 p.m. Friday, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz said.

Two dozen county firefighters extinguished the blaze in 20 minutes.

“One of the units [mobile homes] is severely damaged and the other is moderately damaged,” Kurtz said. Both were rendered uninhabitable.

The family declined Red Cross housing assistance and said they would move in with other family members in the area until their mobile homes were repaired.

What sparked the fire was unknown as of 9:30 p.m., but investigators were examining the scene. No injuries were reported.
