Emmanuel to Celebrate Its 95th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 13, 2017

Rosanne Haggerty, an internationally recognized social entrepreneur dedicated to ending homelessness, will deliver Emmanuel College’s 2017 Commencement address.

We look forward to welcoming our distinguished honorees to campus as we celebrate the achievements of the Emmanuel College Class of 2017.

Rosanne Haggerty, an internationally recognized social entrepreneur dedicated to ending homelessness, will deliver the Commencement address and receive an honorary degree at Emmanuel College‘s 95th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 13, 2017. The College will also confer honorary degrees on Wayne Budd, Senior Counsel at Goodwin Procter LLP and former U.S Attorney for Massachusetts, and Emmanuel Trustee Dr. Elaine El-Khawas, Professor Emerita of Education Policy at George Washington University.

“We look forward to welcoming our distinguished honorees to campus as we celebrate the achievements of the Emmanuel College Class of 2017,” said President Sister Janet Eisner, SND. “All three individuals exemplify Emmanuel’s mission and values by their superb contributions to their professions and to society. They will serve as great role models as our new graduates prepare to translate their talents and training into meaningful careers in the Boston area and around the world.”

Rosanne Haggerty is the founder and President of New York-based Community Solutions, which is dedicated to ending homelessness, strengthening communities and changing the conditions that perpetuate poverty. She is widely known for her leadership of innovations such as the 100,000 Homes Campaign, a movement of 186 U.S. communities that collectively found permanent homes for more than 105,000 vulnerable and chronically homeless Americans between 2010 and 2014, and Built for Zero, a national effort that has already helped six communities end veteran homelessness outright. In addition to being featured twice on “60 Minutes,” Ms. Haggerty has received a MacArthur “Genius” grant, and was among 31 social entrepreneurs from 25 different countries awarded attendance to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, part of her designation as a Schwab Social Entrepreneur. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Amherst College, where she is a Life Trustee. In addition, she holds a master’s degree in architecture from Columbia University and is a Ph.D. candidate in sociology at New York University.
