Although many community members may have had their fill of summer festivals, others are still ready to enjoy a weekend of nice weather, local events and the last few weeks of summer.
Vergas Looney Daze continues Friday after beginning Thursday. Friday’s evening is highlighted by the Old Timers Softball game beginning at 7 p.m., while Saturday is packed with events for the whole family including weiner dog races, sand castle contest and much more. The night will close off with the Looney Daze street dance at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, the Aqua Chautauqua in Fergus Falls will take place at Wright, City Hall and Veterans Parks. The event, which looks to educate the community about their local watershed, has numerous things scheduled throughout the day with different performances on the main stage.
Also happening Saturday is Otterfest in Ottertail. A parade, carnival, 5K run/walk and street dance are just a few things going on during Ottertail’s local gala.
If you aren’t in the mood for the events of a festival, the 40th annual Art of the Lakes Arts & Crafts Affair in Battle Lake delivers a change of pace Saturday.
The event at Railroad Park boasts 90 vendors selling handmade, original arts and crafts, while also having a farmers market going. Children will also have something to look forward to as a children’s activity booth will be available.
So if you think the summer season is winding down, these local celebrations will keep you entertained in the dog days of summer.
